Adolph Gempe, the father of Willie Gempe. Deposes that the boy is beyond his control, will not go to school, is in some trouble all the time. "People come to my house almost every day complaining about the boy. He will not go to school. The truant officer is after me because the boy will not go to school. He runs away at night and stays out late." (signed) Adolf Gempe, corner Granite St. & Olive, 13th Ward, Pittsburgh, Penna. Caroline Gempe, the mother of the above boy, deposes that he will not go to school, runs away with bad boys, stays out late at night. Additional Comments: Notes made at the time of the boy's commitment to Western Pennsylvania Reform School at Morganza: William Gempe, #5691, Division B: Parents living at corner of Granite & Olive Streets, Pittsburgh. Father, Adolph, a machinist. Sent here for not going to school, staying out at night. Description: Height 4'6"; weight 66 pounds; light hair, gray eyes, fair complexion; small scar below right temple & on front of left cheek. One vaccine mark on left arm.
