Brown buwbrown@comcast.net June 7, 2008, 7:38 am Document to commit to reform school one Alfred Ober of the 4th Ward, Allegheny City, signed by Mayor J. Morrison, Michael Ober, the boy's father, and Louis Fischer, shoemaker of the 4th Ward. Alfred, under age 15, entirely ungovernable. Had run away the previous summer and was found in Westmoreland Co. in the fall and returned home. Would not learn a trade, had been discharged from school twice because of inattention and truantism. For last two months has not done a day's work, comes home about 10 at night and off the next morning. Further particulars would only make his case worse. Additional Comments: Notation on reverse, dated 23 Sept. 1865: Examined and approved. (signed) Thomas Mellon.
