Know all men by these presents that whereas there has been A Patent Granted to James Campbell Senr by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for A Tract of Land Situate and Laying in Armstrong County adjoining lands of Charles Campbell and others Beginning at A Black oak and running by Land of Charles Campbell and James Campbell North 45 Degrees East Ninety four Perches to a Black oak thence by land of James Campbell North Twenty eight Degrees East fifty five Perches to a White oak North Sixty three Degrees East thirty four Perches to a Black oak thence by land of Archibald McHatten North five Degrees West One hundred and Eighty three Perches to a Hickory thence by vacant land North sixty five Degrees West forty six Perches to a Black oak South fifty Degrees West Sixty five Perches to a Black South six Degrees West two Hundred and Forty four Perches to a White oak and South fifteen Degrees East fifty five Perches to the beginning Containing One Hundred and Seventy four acres and forty Perches with the usual allowance and yC as by the said Patent Enrolled Patent Book H, Vol 11, Page 112 Hill more fully appears. Now know ye that I Isaac Hughes for and in consideration of the sum of Six Hundred and Nine Dollars and Eighty Seven Cents to me in hand paid by John Stoops the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have Bargained and sold and due by these presents bargain and Sell unto the said John Stoops all my right title Interest and claim of in and to the aforesaid Tract or Parcel of land with the Appertainences to have and to hold the same unto him the said John Stoops his Heirs or assigns forever and by these presents to find myself my Heirs Exec or Adm to Warrant and defend from all persons lawfully Claiming the same in testimony whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and seal this twelfth day of May one thousand Eight Hundred and Sixteen. That I John Stoops one of the heirs of William Stoops late of Allegheny Township Armstrong County died do hereby acknowledge that I have this day had and received of and from James Stoops my brother the sum of Two hundred and Eighty five dollars. The full amount agreed to be paid to me by the said James Stoops in an Indenture made by my Father, William Stoops aforesaid, to the said James Stoops dated the 20th day of March AD. 1872 and recorded in the Recorder's Office for Armstrong County Pennsylvania in Deed Book Vol 42 pages 226 & 227. And I the said John Stoops do by these presents revise release quit-claim and Jonver discharge the said James Stoops his Heirs, Executors, and Adminstrators of and from the said sum of Two Hundred and Eighty Five dollars and of and from all actions write payments accounts XXX claims and demands whatsoever for or by XXX thereof or any other acdts matter cause or thing whatsoever up to this date. Deed book 10, Page 556, Kittaning, Armstrong Co, PA; [transcribed by Stephen A. Stoops] John Stoops senr to John Stoops Junior William Stoops Jonathan Stoops and James Stoops Noblesville In. November 1st 1837. Received of John Stoops, William Stoops, Jonathan Stoops, and James Stoops fifteen hundres dollars the amount in for a tract of land sold by me to the said Jonathan, John, William, and James Stoops lying in the county of Armstrong and State of Pennsylvania. Witness my hand the date above. John Stoops State of Indiana Hamilton County Personally came before me the undersigned an acting Justice of the Peace within and for the County of Hamilton and state of Indiana John Stoops, whose name is signed to the above receipt and acknowledged the signing of the same to be his own Voluntary act, and deed for the purpose therein XXX. Stoops] David Leech & wife To Jonathan Stoops This Indenture made this fourth day of December In the Year of Our Lord, Eighteen Hundred and thirty seven between David Leech of the Township of Allegheny, in the County of Armstrong, and the State of Pennsylvania, Esq and Rhoda his wife of the one part and Jonathan Stoops of the Township of Allegheny and County of Armstrong of the Other part. Whereas, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, by their patent bearing date the twelfth day of August, seventeen Hundred and Eighty three granted to White Mallock, a certain tract of Land called White Plains, situate in Armstrong County, on the north side of the Kiskeminitas, containing One Hundred and Ninety four and one fourth Acres of land. And whereas the said tract of land by virture of sundry means conveyances and apurances in land because legally vested in a certain Matthew Shields. And whereas the said Matthew Shields and Mary his wife did by their deed bearing date the sexteenth day of October Eighteen hundred and Twenty Seven sell and convey to the said David Leech, in fee Reference being had to the aforesaid Article of conveyances, will move fully and at large appear. And whereas the said David Leechy has laid off a town on the aforesaid tract adjoining the Pennsylvania borough called "Leechburg" consisting of 117 in lots with convenient streets and alleys which lots, in the General plot of said town, are numbered from No. 1 to No 117, inclusive as by the said plan recorded in the office for Recording deeds in and for the county of Armstrong relation being had theirto may appear. Now this Indenture witnesseth that the said David Leech and Rhoda, his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred dollars-cents unto them paid, and before the ensealing and delivery more of, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained and sold-and by these presents to grant, bargain, sell, release, and confirm unto the said Jonathan Stoops and to his heirs and assigns all that certain lot or pice of ground situate in the town aforesaid, marked in the general plan thereof No 15 on the North side of Canal Street, containing in breadth, on said street sixty feed bounded on the north by Badin Alley on the East by lot No fourteen being a part of Lot No. 15 with the appurtenances thereto. To have and to hold the said described lot or piece of ground with the appurtenances unto the said Jonathan Stoops his heirs and assigns, To his and their only proper use and behoof forever. And the said David Leech doth covenant promise and agree to and with the said Jonathan Stoops his heirs and assigns by these presents. That we the said David Leech and Rhoda his wife and theirs the said described tract or parcel of land hereby granted with the appurtenances unto the said Jonathan Stoops his heirs and assigns against him the said David Leech and his heirs and against all and every other person or persons whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof, the said David Leech and Rhoda his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals dated the day and year first above written. She the said Rhoda being examined separate and apart from her said husband, and the contents of the said Indenture being first made fully known to her declared that she did of her own free will and accord, sign, seal, and as such delivered the same without any coercian or compulsion of her said husband. Stoops] John Stoops Senr To John Stoops Junr And others This Indenture made this fourteenth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty six between John Stoops of the County of Hamilton and State of Indiana of the one part and John Stoops Jr William Stoops Jonathan Stoops James Stoops of the County of Armstrong and State of Pennsylvania of the other part. Witnesseth that the same party of the first part for once in consideration of the sum of Fifteen hundred dollars lawful money of the United States to in hand paid by the said party of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said party of the first part hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said party of the second part and his heirs and assigns forever all that tract or parcel of lant Situate in the Allegheny Township Armstrong County and State of Pennsylvania XXX and distances as XXX to wit Beginning at a Black oak thence by lands late of Charles and James Campbell North forty five degrees East ninety four perches to a Black oak thence by lands late of James Campbell North twenty eight degrees East fifty five perches to a White oak North Sixty three degrees East thirty four perches to a Black oak thence by lands of Archibald McHatten North five degrees West one hundred and Eighty three perches to a hickory thence by lands lately vacant North sixty five degrees west forty seven perches to a Black oak South fifty five degrees west sixty five perches to a Black Oak South six degrees west two hundred and forty four perches to a white oak South fefteen degrees East fifty five poles to the place of the Beginning Containing one hundred and seventy four acres and forty perches to have and to hold the said described premises whereby sold and conveyed unto the said John Stoops Junr, William Stoops, Jonathan Stoops & James Stoops their heirs and assigns forever together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any way appurtaining to their XXX proper use and behoof and the said John Stoops for himself and his heirs executed and administered the aforesaid lot or tract of land and appurtenances to the said John Stoops Junr, William Stoops, Jonathan Stoops, & James Stoops their heirs and administrators against the claims or claim of all and every person whatsoever will warrant and forever defend In Testimony whereof the said John Stooips has hereunto set his hand and XXX his seal this day and year first above written.
