  Well Known Miner is Fatally Injured by Fall of Slate
  
  Guy Shaffer victim of Accident in Campbell Mine Near Putneyville, Friday
  Survived by Wife and Two Children
  A sad accident occurred at the Campbell coal mine at Putneyville  Friday of last
  week, which resulted in the death of Guy Shaffer, a young man of Armstrong
  county, who was well and favorably known by almost every person in the community.
  	It appears that Guy was coming out of the mine with an empty coal car and met
  another car which struck him and his car, knocking four posts down and causing a
  quantity of rock to fall from the roof.  A portion of the rock fell on the lower
  limbs of Mr. Shaffer, pinning him to the ground and severing an artery from
  which he bled profusely.  It was impossible to extricate him from his perilous
  position at once, and men worked with all their might for a period of 45 minutes
  before the rock was removed and the unfortunate man taken out of the mine.
  	Dr. A. J. Hepler of town was hurriedly summoned by phone and rushed to the
  scene of the accident, but by the time he got there Mr. Shaffer had lost so much
  blood that he couldn’t rally, passing away at about five o’clock that evening. 
  According to the Doctor’s statement, he was not injured about the head or body,
  nor had he received any internal injuries.  The severance of the artery in one
  of his legs and the great loss of blood was the cause of his death.
  	Guy Shaffer was born Feb. 11, 1903, in Armstrong county, and was a son of Joseph
  H. and Mary (Doverspike) Shaffer.  He was married to Miss Mabel Hoffman and to
  this union were born two children.  He is survived by his wife, children,
  parents, and by five brothers and two sisters.
  	Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Evangelical church at Mudlic
  and were conducted by Rev. W. M. Minerd.  Interment under the direction of Chas.
  White of town, was made in the Mudlic cemetery.  It is said that the funeral was
  one of the largest - if not the largest - ever held in this section.  The young
  man had many friends whose sympathy goes out to the sorrowing wife and children
  as well as to the parents, brothers and sisters.
