Shick, one of the few surviving Civil War Veterans of this section, died at the home of Mrs. John Wells on the South Side, Saturday, February 13, 1937. He was 92 years, 1 month and 25 days old. Mr. Shick, the son of Jacob and Catherine Herring Shick, was born in Armstrong county, December 22, 1864, He enlisted in the Union army, February 6, 1864, and was assigned to Company H, 105th Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers. He was discharged at Pittsburgh, June 16, 1865. He was married to Miss Catherine Reddinger Shick, who preceded him in death. He is survived by the following children: Harry Shick, Thomas Shick, and Mrs. John Foulks, Brookville. One Sister, Mrs. Jane McElroy of Butler also survives. Funeral services were conducted at the church at Pierce, Pennsylvania with the Reverend Stang officiating. Military services at the grave were in charge of the Walter W. Craig Post, American Legion.
