Shilling, 45-year-old World War veteran, died suddenly at his residence, 325 South Jefferson Way, Kittanning, Tuesday morning, July 29, 1941. Death was attributed to a heart condition. A painter by occupation, Mr. Shilling was a member of Painter Local No. 657, and also of the James Arthur Ashe Post, No. 863, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Millie Bailey Shilling; a son, John A. and a daughter, Etta Mae Shilling, both at home: his father, William H. Shilling of Ringgold; three brothers, Victor Shilling of Leechburg, Carl Shilling of Kittanning, and Wirl Shilling of Templeton; four sisters, Wanda Shilling of Mt. Pleasant, Mich,. Mrs. M. A. Morrison of Kittanning, R. D. 1. Mrs. Harold Helpler of Bedford, and Margie Shilling of Ringgold. Military funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, DST, at the home of his brother, Clair Shilling, 229 1/2 North McKean street, Kittanning. The Reverend L. O. Douds, pastor of the Union Avenue Methodist Church of Kittanning, will be in charge. Burial will be made in the family plot in the Distant cemetery.
