Slaugenhoup, for many years a well known and respected citizen of New Bethlehem, died in the Temple University hospital, Philadelphia, Pa. aged 59 years, 7 months and 17 days. He was the son of the late Lewis and Eliza Ann (Sweitzer) Slaugenhoup, and was born February 24, 1880 in Limestone Township, Clarion County. August 7, 1900, he was united in marriage to Frances Eberhart who died several years ago. To their union three children were born, namely; Clair, wife of Rayburn Hepler, of Dayton, Pa; Sara, wife of Gerald Keck, Ulysses, Pa., and Robert Slaugenhoup of Chicago, Ill. Eleven grandchildren also survive. Of his father’s family, two brothers remain, Thos. P. Slaugenhoup of this place, and Edward of Sligo. Mr. Slaugenhoup was member of the New Bethlehem Lodge, No. 522, F & A.M., and of the New Bethlehem Aerie, No. 1860, F.O. E. Early last hear his health began to fail and on July 17 he was taken to the hospital where he remained a patient until his death. The body was brought from Philadelphia and taken to the Mateer Funeral Home where services in his memory were conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. by Rev. Roy R. Decker of the New Bethlehem Methodist church. Interment was made in the New Bethlehem cemetery. The following out-of-town people attended the services: Mr. and Mrs. Edward Slaugenhoup and family of Sligo; Mr. and Mrs. Verne Eberhart and daughter of New Kensington; Mr. and Mrs. John Shanafelt and family of New Bethlehem, R.D.; Mrs. Albert Sweitzer, Mrs. Wilbur Sweitzer, Mrs. T.P.
