Mr. Sloan who had been living with his brother. H. H. Sloan, of Hawthorn, was doing some landscaping work when he was stricken with the fatal attack. He was aged 42 years, 5 months and 2 days. The son of the late J. F. and Ella (Braumgardner) Sloan he was born December 8, 1897 at Hawthorn, where he spent most of his life. He is survived by one daughter, Donna Jean Sloan, of New Kennsington; by three brothers and four sisters; W. D. Sloan, Philadelphia; Jack Sloan, Canton, O., and H. H. Sloan of Hawthorn; Mrs. N. J. Beattie of State College; Miss Bunt Sloan, Pittsburgh; Mrs. C. R. Barr and Mrs. George James of Philadelphia. Funeral services were held from the H. H. Sloan home in Hawthorn, Monday at 2:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. Gerald Palmer, pastor of the Hawthorn Presbyterian church.
