Born Jan. 8, 1902, in Wayne Township, Armstrong County, he was a son of Alexander Goodheart Walker and Martha Debora (Heasley) Walker. On May 8, 1935, he married Nellie G. (Hollenbaugh) Walker, who survives him. He was a member of the Dayton Glade Run United Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, the Dayton Grange No. 1819, the Dayton Area Senior Citizens, the Dayton Sportsmen's Club, the National Rifle Association, and the Operating Engineers Local 66. He worked at strip mining construction and was a heavy equipment operator. He was well known as a square-dance caller, which he did for about 70 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Larry Walker of Lancaster, Cal.; Richard Walker of Greensburg and Eugene Walker of Dayton RD 2; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harry of Leechburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, four brothers, two half sisters and a daughter-in-law, Debbie Walker, who died in 1981. Friends of Louis Reed Walker, 83, of Dayton RD 2, who died Saturday, Feb. 9, 1985, will be received at the Frank O. Bly Funeral Home in Dayton from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and at the Dayton Glade Run United Presbyterian Church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Karl Viernstein, church pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Thoburn Stull. Burial will be in Glade Run Cemetery. Arrangements are by Bly.
