   Howard R. Wolfgang, 76, of South Bethlehem, died at 11:36 p.m. Sunday, 
  December 28, 1997, at his residence.  Born October 29, 1921, in New Salem, he 
  was the son of Ray and Catherine (Boddorf) Wolfgang.  He married the former 
  Ruth I. Himes on March 14, 1942. She survives.  Mr. Wolfgang worked as a dairy 
  farmer during his early years.  He was employed by Crawford Furniture Co. of 
  Alcola for 17 years, retiring in 1988.  Mr. Wolfgang served with the U. S. 
  Army during World War II.  He was of the Protestant faith.  In addition to his 
  wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William H. and Patricia 
  Wolfgang of Dayton RR1; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Terry Shaffer of 
  New Bethlehem RR1; and two granddaughters, Angela Shaffer and Laura Shaffer, 
  both of New Bethlehem RR1.  Mr. Wolfgang also is survived by five sisters, 
  Betty Bish and Geraldine Bish, both of Fairmount City RR1, Florence 
  Shreckengost of Lake Worth, Fla., Mrs. Walter (Velma) Dinger of Erie, and Mrs. 
  Rudy (Shirley) Magagnotti of Oak Ridge.  In addition to his parents, he was 
  preceded in death by a brother, John Wolfgang.  The family will receive 
  friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the Charles D. Alcorn 
  Funeral Home in Hawthorn.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow 
  (Wednesday) at the funeral home. The Rev. Randall Forrester, pastor of Belknap 
  United Methodist Church, and the Rev. David Pearce, pastor of the Fairmount 
  City United Methodist Church will officiate.     Interment will be in Westview 
  Cemetery in Summerville RR2.
