Other than the name,little is clear on this tombstone,Research has found that a James Bole served in Co F of the 123rd PA Infantry during the Civil War,The 123rd was recruited in Allegheny City,and James enlisted on August 8,1862 and was mustered out with his company on May 13,1863,One on-line source has a James Bole listed as the s/o David Bole and Elizabeth Shaeffer,who married in Armstrong County in 1821,Their son James was born on September 6,1822 in South Buffalo Township and died December 13,1892,It was mentioned that 6 of David's son served in the Civil War,although little other information is available,David was the s/o James Bole and Mary Painter,both of whom were interred in the old Freeport Cemetery,along with Jame's father,James,
