Comment: Co C 139 PA Inf. From cemetery records we know that 
John d. Oct 17,'1891. He is in several family trees on 
Ancestry,but very little is known about him,He was one of 8 
known children of Joseph Phillips and Mary A Fishel of 
Westmoreland County but all trees have him born in Butler 
County in 1823. He enlisted in the 139th Infantry on Sep 1 
1862 and was discharged on a surgeon's certificate on May 4 
1863 spending his entire service as a private. No census 
records were found for him,although one family tree did list 
a wife named Jane Elisabeth as well as 3 sons: William, 
Joseph and Arnold and a daughter named Mary Josephine.
