Freeport records show that he was born in 1831 but the 1900 census states he was born in Sep 1829. He lived in Fawn Township in 1860 with wife Phoebe Jane Hathaway and son Henry, then joined Co H of the 6th Regiment, Heavy Artillery, 212th Volunteers. Discharged on Jun 13 1865, he returned to Harrison Twp and worked as a coal miner. Families trees on Ancestry list 4 known children: Henry, Edward, Nancy and Laura Charlotte. He d. Mar 18 1915 according to records.
