PA, Will book, Vol 2, Page 366, Estate #1679 Will of Joseph Lanker, 1865 I Joseph Lanker of Red Bank Township in the County of Armstrong and State of Pennsylvania being of sound mind memory and understanding do make and publish this my Last will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made. And first I direct that my body be decently interred in the Salem Cemetery in the village of New Salem according to the rules and ceremonies of the Evangelical church and that my funeral be conducted in a manner corresponding with my Estate and situation in life as to such estate as it hath pleased God to in trust one with. I dispose of the same as follows by) Item. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Margaret Lanker as much of my household furniture in my dwelling house as she may choose to have after my death including one Garden and one cover hoe and one spade two milk cows five head of sheep and five head of hogs also all the Buckwheat and ears coming to me from the Schaeffer farm for the year AD 1864 and also fifteen Bushels wheat ten of which are now in the granery where I now life and five bushels of which are coming to me from my son Joseph W Lanker also the hay where I now live and the hay coming to me from Jacob Wise for the year 1864 and also fifty Dollars in money to be paid to her by my executors herein named as sworn after my decease as can be consistantly to have and to hold the same to her during her life if she shall so long remain my widow. I also give and bequeath and devise to her my said wife the Interest of a certain bond which I hold against my son George Lanker dated April first AD 1864 one thousand eight hundred and sixty four calling for one thousand five hundred Dollars bearing interest from the first day of april AD 1864 the Interest of said bond to be paid to her annualy according to the requirements of said bond for and during her natural life if she shall so long remain my widow. I also give devise and bequeath to my said wife the use improvement and increase of my measurage or tract of Land on which my dwelling house where I now live is situated of forty two acres be the same more or less with a strait line from the lands of Joseph Shaffer to the land of my son George Lanker with its appurtaninces the said piece or parcel of land being situate in the township of Red Bank County of Armstrong and state of Pennsylvania adjoining lands of Joseph Shaffer Adrian Miller George Lanker and other land of mine to have and to hold the said measurage above described and appurtaninces for and during her natural life if she shall so long remain my widow. And if my said wife should be or get married then at her being married she shall have one milk cow two beds one bureau one spinning wheel and fifty Dollars worth in Kitchen and household furniture aforesaid by two or three competent persons appointed by executors and five hundred Dollars in money paid to her as same after her marriage as consistently and as soon as it can be made of the Estate remaining at her marriage to have and to hold the same to her and her heirs made to my said wife shall be in lieu of her dower at common law. Lastly I appoint William Buffington and my son Peter Lanker to be the executors of this my Last will and Testament and the said executors sell all my personal property not bequeathed to my said wife and pay or cause to be paid including money which may be remaining at my death share and share alike among all my legal heirs. I also request my executors before making distribution of my estate built a good stone wall under the Barn of which bequeathed to my wife the stone for said purpose and prepared and made ready to be hauled on the farm of my son Geroge Lanker also pay all my debts funeral expenses and procure put up and pay for a suitable pair of Toom Stones. In testimony whereof I the said Joseph Lanker here to this my last will and Testament subscribed my name and affixed my seal this first day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty four. signed sealed and declared by the said Joseph Lanker {Seal} Joseph Lanker ascribed for his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witness thereto Jacob Shick Jr. Joseph Shaffer Armstrong County SS Registers office 16th of March AD 1865 Personally appeared Jacob Shick and Joseph Shafer the subscribing witness of the foregoing Last Will and Testament of Joseph Lanker Dec'd and on their solemn oaths did say that they were present and did see and hear Joseph Lanker late of red Bank Township Deceased the Testament therein named sign seal publish and declare the same as and for his last will and Testament and that at the doing thereof he was of sound disposing mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge & belief. sworn and subscribed before me this 16th day of March 1865 Jacob Shick Jr P.K.
