May 12, 1864 as a Pvt. (Further not found) and the rolls on file for tha tperiod do not show him absent without leave or in desertion. Apr 23, 1907 _____ Act of February 6, 1907 DECLARATION FOR PENSION The Pension Certificate Should Not Be Forwarded With The Application State of Ohio County of Columbus On this 19 day of June A.D. one thousand nine hundred and eleven personally appeared before me, a notary public within and for the county and State aforesaid Madison Funkhouser, who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is 75 years of age, and a resident of East Palestine county of Columbiana State of Ohio; and that he is the identical person who was enrolled at Pittsburgh PA under the name of Madison Funkhouser, on the 24 day of May, 1861, as a private in Co. H 9th Regt _____ Volunteers in the service of the United States, in the Civil War, and was honorably discharged at Pittsburgh PA on the 12th day of May 1864. That he also served _____. That he was not employed in the military of naval service of the United States otherwise than as stated above. That his person descriptoin at enlistment was as follows: Height, 5 feet 6 1/2 inches; complexion light; color of eyes; gray; color of hair, light; that his occupation was blacksmith; that he was born June 17th 1836 at New Brighton, PA. That his several places of residence since leaving the service have been as follows: New Brighton PA - 8 yrs. East Palestine O 30 yrs. That he is a pensioner. That he has heretofore applied for pension No. 583782. That he makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension roll of the United States under the provisions of the act of February 6, 1907.
