All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Mark Patten. mark_patten@hotmail.com LAST WILL of Andrew Reed, deceased, Registered August 9th, 1830 IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN: I Andrew Reed of Hanover Township Beaver County said State of Pennsylvania being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and memory blessed be God for his mercies calling to mind the mortality of my body and that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament in the following manner and fore Vis(?): 1st Principally and first of all I commend my soul into the hand of God who gave it hoping for his merciful receiving of it through the merits of his son Jesus Christ and my body I commit to the earth to be buried in a Christian and decent manner at the discretion of my Executors, and as to what worldly estate as it has pleased God to bless me in this life I do dispose of the same in the following manner Vis(?): 1 I allow all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid and I allow the house to be repaired in the following manner and the expenses thereof to be added and paid on common debt against me estate to wit[.] I allow the new house to be finished in the following manner Vis: a floor to be laid called overbead, be well to be filled in latbed and plastered in the common way and small inside chimney r** led in the north corner either of brick or stone as may be deemed most convenient and the doors and windows closed in a decent and common manner. I allow the gable end of the other house and porch which was injured by lightening to be repaired and the eve boxed so that the whole may be in reasonable and tentantable repair. 2nd I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Isabella all the dresser and dresser ware down to a small stow pot and oven my armed chair and another chair, her wheel and reel, two square tables, the chest and that pertains to it, the saddle which she has been known to ride as hers and the remains of the bedding which is not hereinafter otherwise disposed of, and also one cow[.] 3rd I give and bequeath to my son John one hundred dollars and as I consider him not properly capable of acting for himself I allow Guardians to be appointed by the Court to dispose of the same for his use as they deem most proper. 4th I give and bequeath to my son William the ( 2 words???) hundred dollars also two cows and whatever sheep are known to be his by claim and as I consider him also not properly competent to act for himself I allow Guardians to be appointed by the Court to dispose and of these bequests for his use as they may deem most convenient. 5th I give and bequeath to my son Samuel to be paid out of common stock the sum of fifty dollars also twenty acres of land adjoining his own lot to begit at the west corner of said lot and to extend down to the south line and to include all the improvements in that place, an I allow my Executors to make him a deed fort he same by him paying all the necessary expenses[.] likewise I give and bequeath the last calfed now, commonly called Little White Face. 6th I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary twenty dollars to be paid when convenient also Bad, Bad stead and the necessary badding, likewise a spinning wheel and real. And as I consider her not competent to act for herself I allow Guardians to be appointed by the Court to dispose of her bequests as they may deem most convenient for her use. 7th I give and bequeath to my daughter Hannah twenty dollars to be paid when convenient also one bed, bedstead and the necessary bedding likewise the cow saddle and spinning wheel which are in her name. 8th I give and bequeath to my daughter Dorcas twenty dollars to be paid to her when she arrives at full age, and it is my will if it should be her choice that she continues with her aunt till she arrives at full age upon condition that she deals with her according to equity and justice. 9th I give and bequeath to my daughter Isabella thirty dollars to be paid to her when she arrives at full age. I allow her to continue at school during the year that is already commenced and all the expenses paid out of the common stock and at the end of the year to be put out to some suitable place which may appear to be most conducive to her own benefit and happiness (???) by the advice and consent of the Executors or Guardians if any should be appointed. 10th I bequeath to my three sons Moses, James and Andrew to be equal shares of whatever may remain of the amount of the sale of my personal property when the debts and expenses and the before mentioned requests are paid or deducted, also it is my will that when the youngest of the three or the youngest survivor arrives at full age the land property be sold and (???) after allowing the widow her lawful shares my said three sons or whoever of them may survive shall be equal shares in the same, it is also my will that my two sons Moses and James get each six months schooling to be put out to hire during their minority to decent places where they may have a chance of learning something for their moral benefit. My son Andrew I allow to live with my son Samuel till he arrives at full age to learn the trade of his which he useth and to be his maintained in the usual way of apprentices during said term. 11th It is my will that from and after the first day of April next, my fare shall be rented yearly till the youngest of my three sons or the youngest survivor as above stated arrives at full age and after the widows yearly receives her third of the rent the remainder to be equally divided among my daughters and the place where William now lives to be rented in the same way and the rent disposed of for the same purpose. It is my will also that whatever may be coming to my wife Isabella of her father's estate may be divided among her and my daughters as the (???) may direct - It is my will also that the widow and whoever of the family may think convenient shall have the privilege to remain in possession of the premises till the first day of April next and be allowed a competent support as my executors in their discretion may think proper. Lastly I constitute and appoint George Shellito Senior and John Marsh(???) to be Executors of this my last will and testament and I do hereby revoke all former wills, making and confirming this to be my last will and testament. IN WITNESS HEREOF I have herunto set my hand and seal the twenty ninth day of June in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty. James Andersen John Littell BEAVER COUNTY SS: Be it remembered that on the 29th (???) day of August A.D. 1830 before me David Johnson Registrar of the Probate of Wills and (???)anting Letters of Administration in and for said County, personally came James Andersen and John Littell who below duly sworn did depose and say that they were present and saw and heard Andrew Reed the testator within named, sign seal pronounce and declare the foregoing instrument of writing to (???) his last will and testament. And this at the time he was of sound mind memory and understanding to the best of the deponents knowledge observation and belief.
