Jacob Albright, of Meyersdale, is the son of Frank Albright, who was born in 1816 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, and was a shoemaker by trade. His wife was Lydia Deal, and they were the parents of the following children: Hattie, Catherine, Mealie, all of whom are deceased; Peter; Jacob, mentioned heinafter; Eliza; Fannie; and Leopold. The death of Mr. Albright, the father, occured in 1897 at the good old age of eight-one. Jacob Albright, son of Frank and Lydia (Deal) Albright, was born January 27, 1848, in Somerset County, where he was educated in the common schools. At the age of seventeen he enlisted in Company D, Fifty-fourth Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, for three years or during the war, receiving his discharge April 8, 1865, the day before the surrender at Appomattox. Mr. Albright married, in 1872, Dorothea, daughter of Jacob and Annie Weymer and the following children have been born to them: Jacob F; Henry E; Hattie, deceased; Charles, also deceased; John; Minnie; Dorothea; and Ettie.
