All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/bedford/ ************************************************ Written: May 11, 1796 Recorded: May 10, 1796 Deed Benjn Elliot Esq To Lodwick Hoover This Indenture made the Eleventh day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Ninety Six Between Benjamin Elliott Esq of the Town and County of Huntingdon and Sarah his Wife of the one part and Lodwick Hoover of the County afs. (Both in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania) of the other part. Witneseth that whereas the aforesaid Benjamin Elliot Esq. obtained a Deed of the Reverend William Smith The D. D. the Propriator of the Town of Huntingdon aforesaid for (Eight sundrie lots of Ground) Bearing date of the fifth day of August one thousand Seven hundred and Eighty Six and known by their Several Numbers as is incerted in the So Recorded in the Recorders office for the County of Bedford in Book B page 275 the 9th Say of September 1786, &c reference thereunto had may more fully and at large Appear. Now this Indenture Witsesseth that for and in consideration of the Sum of five pounds ten Shillings Current money of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania aforesaid, to him the aforesaid Benjamin Elliott Esq in hand well and truly paid by the aforesaid Lodwick Hoover the Receipt whereof the Said Benjamin Elliot Esq. doth hereby acknowledge Hath granted given released and Confirmed & by these presents doth give, grant, sell release and Confirm unto the Said Lodwick Hoover his Heirs and Assigns forever, one of the above mentioned Lots of Ground Situate on the Northerly Side of Washington Street and fronting on said Street fifty feet and extending at Right angles to said Street two hundred feet to Mifflin Street and known and distinguished on the plan of the Said Town by the Number 133. to have and to hold the aforesaid Lot of ground ___th the apurtanances thereon or there unto belonging or in anywise appertaining unto the aforesaid Lodwick Hoover his Heirs and assigns from me the Said Benjamin Elliot Esq. my Heirs Executors administrators or any other Person or Persons lawfully claiming or to Claim the Same free and clear of all incumberance whatsoever Excepting and it is hereby excepted the yearly ground rent that is now due and that hereafter may be come due and payable on the aforesaid Lot, unto the aforesaid William Smith D. D. his Heirs or assigns and the other performances of Covenants that is to be done and Heirs and Assigns forever. In Witness whereof the said Benjamin Elliot Esq. & Sarah his Wife hath hereunto interchangeably set their Hands and Seals the Day and year first above written. Sealed & delivered in presence of Us. Before me one of the Judges in and for the County aforesaid personally appeared the within named Benjamin Elliot and Sarah his Wife and acknowledged the within Indenture to be their act and Deed & desired it to be recorded as such the Said Sarah Being of full age & by me examined apart from her husband (the contents there of being first made known to her) the acknowledged herself therewithin satisfied ?
