Koontz descendants still own, occupy, and farm this land. THE Supreme Executive Council of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania To all to whom these presents shall come Greetings - Knowye that in Consideration of the Monies paid by Edward Ward to the late Proprietaries at the granting of the warrant herein after mentioned and the sum of Ninety seven pounds three shillings and four pence lawful money now paid by Edmund Milne into the Receiver Generals Office to this Commonwealth there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto the said Edmund Milne A certain Tract of Land called ÒSpringfieldÓ situate on Brushey Run thence by Edward Wards land northe eighteen degrees west thirty five perches to a white oak and north twenty degrees west forty nine perches to a white oak thence by Land of John Dunlap north seventy five degrees west one hundred and ninety seven perches to a white oak thence by the same north seventeen degrees west ninety nine perched to a Hickory thence to an Ash tree thence by land of Edward Ward south seventy six degrees East of the above said Run thence down the same lands of Robert Irwin and Robert Dodson three hundred and seven perches to the place of Beginning containing Two hundred and seventy two acres and allowance of flint for roads with the appurtenances (which said tract was surveyed in pursuance of a warrant granted to the said Edward Ward dated 31 July 1766 who by deed dated the fourth day of March 1775 conveyed the same to the said Edmund Milne. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances unto the said Edmund Milne and his Heirs to the use of him the said Edmund Milne his heirs and assign forever free and clear of all restrictions and reservations as to mines royalties, quit rents or otherwise excepting and reserving only the fifth part of all gold and silver ore for the use of this Commonwealth to be delivered at the Pits Mouth clear of all charges.
