On the 11th day of August Anno Domini 1821, Before the Honorable Court of Common Pleas now holden [sic] in & for Said County John Gunnell aged Sixty three years resident in said County who being first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath declares that he served in the revolutionary War as follows that in the year 1780 he enlisted with ensign Hutchinson in Washington Corps of light horse & served in the said Corps of Light horse commanded by Col. Washington & served in said Corps on the continental establishment in the Revolutionary War until its close & received during said period of service from severe wounds all which was stated in his original application & declaration on which a pension certificate issued to the said John Gunnell dated the fifth day of August A.D. 1819 No.13.563 Signed J. C. Calhoun Secretary of War & I the said John Gunnell do swear that I was a resident citizen of the United States on the 18th day of March 1818 and that I have not since that time by gift sale or in any manner disposed of my property or any part thereof with interest thereby so to diminish it as to bring myself within the provisions of an act of Congress entitled an act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval services of the United States in the Revolutionary War passed on the 18th day of March 1818 & that I have not nor has any person for me any property or securities contracts or debts due to me nor have I any income other than that which is in the schedule hereunto annexed and by me subscribed Sworn to this 11th August John Gunnell 1821 In open Court Josiah all-Espy Proth.
