AUGUST 16.-- The picnic at Osterburg on Saturday was well patronized by the people from this section. A great complaint was made in regard to something to drink, as everything in the drink line and ice cream were sold out early in the day. Water could not be had for love nor money. Quite a number suffered for water and are thirsty yet. Our sick are reported better and slowly improving. William Jo dan started yesterday for Windber, where he expects to get work at his trade. The Evangelical Sabbath school will picnic in E. C. King's grove on Saturday next. On Saturday last the school directors met and employed the teacher for the different schools, as follows: Tull's Hill, W. B. Souser; Napier, Miss Myrtle Souser; Amick, Miss Martha Blackburn; Centennial, Miss Flora Perdew; Helixville, John Kinsey; Rocklick, Irvine Miller; Mill, Irvine Rouzer; Bethel, Miss Mary C. Richards; Wilt, Daniel Miller; Allison, John Miller; Whetstone, J. E. Taylor; Mullin, Wm. M. Moore; Valley, to be supplied. The schools will open on Monday, September 18. The show was well patronized from this end of the county. Teams were on the road before daylight. One young man that attended the show has not come back yet. It is supposed that he went away with it as an employee. HOOKER. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/pafiles/
