Colvin died at his home near Schellsburg Thursday evening, November 30. Decedent was aged seventy-five years, six months and twenty-three days. He was a son of George and Eliza Colvin, nee McDowell, sister of Charles McDowell, founder of THE GAZETTE. The deceased was born at Wolfsburg. Sixty- nine or seventy years ago his parents moved to Schellsburg and the subject of this sketch resided on a farm near that place for many years. About fifty-two years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Reed, daughter of Michael Reed, of Schellsburg and sister of Mrs. Maria Minnich, John P. and Jacob Reed, of Bedford. His wife and the following children survive him: Emma Colvin, at home; Annie, Phoebe, Ross, Ella and Michael Colvin, proprietors of the Sulphur Springs hotel. A son, Reed Colvin, and a daughter, Nina Colvin, preceded him to the spirit world. Decedent was the last of a family of ten children, the following brothers and sisters having died over twenty-five years ago; James Colvin, Mrs. Abraham Schell, Mrs. Martin Reiley and Mrs. Robert M. Taylor, Mrs. J.M. Robinson, William, Goerge M., Charles W., and John E. Colvin have all died since 1892. The funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon. Rev. Dr. W. H. Schuyler, pastor of the Presbyterian church, officiated. Interment in the Union cemetery on Chestnut Ridge. Mr. Colvin was a member of the Presbyterian church and served as elder for a number of years. He was an honest, upright, industrious man and was highly esteemed by all who knew him.
