Jeremiah Fyock, a highly esteemed citizen of this community, passed on the the better world on last Tuesday morning, October 31, death being due to paralysis. The deceased was born May 5, 1856, died October 31, 1922, aged 66 years, 5 months and 14 days. Mr. Fyock lived in the Cove for thirty odd years and most of this time he was engaged in farming and carpenter work. On December 25, 1888, he was united in marriage to Miss Sadie Blough, daughter of Noah B. Blough. Some years ago he was chosen to the ministry by the German Seventh Day Baptist church of Salemville, after which call he --------- served as pastor till called home. In principle, he was a perfect gentleman. In Christian living his life was a safe one for his children (whom he has left) to follow. The beautiful life he lived will live in memory for years to come. Brother Fyock was a man of cheerful disposition. His chief aim was to prepare for that better life beyond. As a husband and father, his seat will be vacant. His words of council will be heard no more. No more will the sound of his hammer be heard in the workshop or the blacksmith shop, mending broken articles for his neighbors. Yes, the community has lost a model man. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. John A. Pentz, of Snow Hill, and Rev. Samuel Zerphas, of Euphrata, Pa., in the church of the deceased's choice. A large number of friends gathered to pay tribute to their departed friend and neighbor. The funeral was in charge of Undertaker J. N. Byers and son, of Woodbury. - Salemville Correspondent Martinsburg Herald, November 10, 1922
