ANNA CATHERINE GEPHART Windber - Mrs. Anna Catherine Gephart, 84, died at 1 o'clock this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Warren [Dena] Machtley, Windber, with whom she had made her home for a number of years. The deceased was born in Somerset County Mar. 5, 1862, a daughter of Abram and Christina (Helsel) [Heltzel] Rose. Her husband, George B. Gephart, died in 1915. In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Machtley, she is survived by two grandchildren. She was a member of the Evangelical Church at New Paris, Bedford County, for the past 70 years, where funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, with Rev. P. W. Baer, pastor of the Windber Evangelical Church, officiating. Friends will be received after 6 p.m. today at the Meek Funeral Home, Windber, where a brief service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, one hour prior to the New Paris service. Interment will be in the New Paris church cemetery. Johnstown Tribune, May 27, 1946 Note regarding Anna Catherine's parentage: Abram Rose died in 1859. As for Anna being born in Somerset County, her mother is shown in Bedford County in every census. Mary Rose, half sister of Anna, was the great-aunt of the contributor. According to Anna's obituary, they were full sisters.
