Green died at his home in Wytheville, Va., on January 6. Dr. Green was a contractor on the South Penn railroad when that road was under contract for construction in this county and had the contract to build the road from Hogback, on the farm of Daniel Sams, deceased, through the George farm, the Eshelman farm, Philip Barton's farm and others, all East Providence township. Deceased had his headquarters on the Eshelman farm. He was well known in Bedford and all over the eastern part of the county. At his home in Virginia, Dr. Green held a high position socially, politically and in business circles. He was a prominent Mason and Knight Templar. He was a member of the state senate from 1891 to 1897, being elected to that position by the Democratic party. During the Civil war, Dr. Green served in the Confederate army, part of the time on General Breckinridge's staff. Bedford Gazette 2/9/1900
