Bedford, Jan. 23. - After an illness of about ten days from spinal 
meningitis, superinduced by influenza Miss Alice Greist passed away this 
morning at her home on West John street, aged about 20 years.  She was the 
oldest daughter of the late Eli L. Griest, a merchant of Fishertown, and with 
her family moved to this place two years ago, she accepting a position as 
book-keeper for the Blackburn-Russell company, wholesale grocers, which 
position she filled in a most efficient and satisfactory manger.  Although of 
a quiet and retiring disposition she made many friends here who will learn of 
her early death with much regret. Surviving are her mother, who before her 
marriage was Miss Maria Moore, two sisters and a brother, Lydia, Emma and 
Thomas, all at home.  Interment will be made in the Bedford cemetery, the 
funeral services being held at her late home on Saturday.
