Hoover, in Woodbury, on Friday morning. When he retired Thursday evening, he was apparently enjoying the best of health. He was the son of Martin and Maria Hoover and was born in Franklin County December 17, 1820. In 1843, he was united in marriage to Miss Catharine Brumaugh. Mrs. Hoover died December 7, 1865, and in 1867, he married Mrs. Annie Coble, of Hollidaysburg. The surviving children of Rudolph and Catherine Hoover are Mrs. T. M. Ake and Mrs. William Coble, of Altoona; Elias Hoover, of Chicago; George B. Hoover, Woodbury, and Mrs. W. R. Hartman and Mrs. W. F. Cromwell, of Bedford. The surviving children by decedent's second wife are Rudolph Hoover, Jr., Bertha, Harry, Lecta, Rinehart, Amanda and Alice. Rudolph Hoover was a man of the strictest honor and integrity. He had no enemies. He was a Christian in the fullest sense the term and his life has left an impression for good on the community in which he lived. He was buried in the Brethren cemetery near Woodbury. Mr. Rudolph Hoover, sr., died at Woodbury, Bedford county, Friday evening, of paralysis, superinduced by old age. Mr. Hoover was born in Lancaster county December 17, 1820, and consequently he was aged 78 years, 7 months and 3 days. He was twice married and is survived by his second wife and thirteen children; also by an aged sister, Mrs. Samuel Bassler, of Ohio. He was a member of the German Baptist Brethren church, better known as the Dunkards. He came to Woodbury with his father when but 1 year old and resided there ever since.
