Imler -- Obituary -- (Elizabeth is Levi & Margaret Grabill's daughter) Adam H. Imler died at his home at Imler on Wednesday, January 24, at 3 a.m., of pulmonary diseases incident to old age. He was a son of Henry and Barbara Imler (deceased), pioneer residents of Bedford County, and was one of a family of seven children, two brothers and two sisters preceding him to the great beyond. He was born May 14, 1835. He spent all but a few years of his life at Imler. He was twice married, his first wife, Hannah Berkheimer, preceded him to the grave forty-six years. His second wife Elizabeth Grabill, who survives him with one son, Charles L., of Imler. John H., a son by his first wife, of Altoona also survives besides five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Joseph of Osterburg, and William H., of Imler. He served his country in the Civil War, entering the service September 21, 1864, as a private in Company B, Ninety-first Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry for one year, under Capt. John C. Bartingheimer and Col. Eli G. Sellers, assigned to duty on the Third Brigade, First Division, Fifth Corps Army of the Potomas. This command engaged in battles of Hatcher's Run, Weldon Railroad, Ft. Steadman, Five Forks, Sailor's Creek, Petersburg, and Lee's Surrender. He was honorably discharged June 6, 1865. He was wounded at Weldon Railroad, January 7, 1865. Politically, he was a Democrat, but never aspired to any office, which he could have had. He was a member of the Reformed Church at Imler. The deceased was highly respected citizen of the community and the sorrowing widow and sons have lost a good father, a faithful friend, and the community a faithful citizen. Interment was made in the Imler Cemetery Friday morning. Funeral Service were conducted by his pastor, Rev. J.W. Zehring, assisted by Rev. H.C. Salem of the Lutheran Church at Imler, and Rev. W.S. Long of the Brethren Church in Altoona. The pall bearers were M.L. Imler, D.C. Imler, Thomas E. Imler, Park Z. Imler, Sewell J. Imler, nephews of the deceased, and Earl Imler, son of D.C. Imler. Friends from Renova, Altoona, Butlersville, Roaring Spring, Schellsburg, and Bedford were present at the funeral.
