He was the son of Henry and Elizabeth Schnabley Kauffman and was born on Nov. 16, 1857, in St. Clair township. He was united in marriage in 1883, with Hannah Mock, who preceded him in death. Surviving are four daughters, Misses Nellie and Carrie, at home, Mrs. Georgia Harpster of Sunbury and Mrs. Margaret Hengst of Bedford, R.D. Also surviving are three brothers, Franklin of St. Clairsville, Albert of Manns Choice and Harry Kauffman. He was a member of the St. Clairsville Lutheran church, where funeral services will be conducted Tuesday morning, in charge of Rev. Guy Middlesworth of Belleville. Interment will be made in the family plot beside his wife in the Lutheran cemetery. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., Monday, November 9, 1931
