GEORGE RUFUS KOONTZ

Formerly of Hopewell, died at the home of his son, George, at 
Waterside, at 7.15 p.m. Saturday, following a brief illness. He was 
born at Loysburg RD, Jan. 15, 1875, a son of Samuel and Elizabeth 
(Henry) Koontz, and was married to Mary Ann Helsel Aug. 23, 1896, at 
Bedford. His wife and two sons preceded him in death. Surviving are the 
following children:  Mrs. Jennie Walters of Bellwood, Mrs. Lottie 
Horton of Martinsburg RD, Albert W. of Chambersburg, George L. of 
Waterside, Hugh W. of Woodbury and James L. of Mentor, Ohio; also 23 
grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and several great-great-
grandchildren. He was a retired coal miner and a member of Grace 
Brethren Church, Yellow Creek RD. Friends are being received at the 
Weaver Funeral Home, Woodbury.
