Layton, aged 82, a retired farmer of near Everett, Bedford county, died at 10:30 o'clock Tuesday night at the Nason hospital in Roaring Spring from cancer and heart trouble after undergoing two operations. He was born at Everett on June 19, 1935, and was engaged as a farmer all his life. He was the son of John and Sophia Layton and had been married three times. The following children survive: John F., of Mattie, Mrs. Joseph Elm of Detroit, Mich., S. C. of Hanley, W.Va., Howard of Joppa, Mont., Miss Jennie Layton of Woodward, Ia., and Mrs. Jonas Williams of Everett and Harry at home. He was a member of the Christian church of Everett.
