Lykens, age 47, of 1522 Buckeye Road, New Paris died Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at 2 a.m. at his home following an extended illness. He was born Dec. 10, 1955 in Sandy Ridge, the son of Victor L. and Catherine Murray Lykens and on Nov. 20, 2001 at Shellsburg, he was married to Janice Hiduk, who survives. Also surviving is a son, Waylon Leeper at home; his mother of Altoona, and two brothers and three sisters, Victor of Altoona, Daniel of Williamsburg, Sharon Lykens and Susan Rickabaugh, both of Altoona, and Debra Love of Florida. He was predeceased by a sister, Sandy. Mr. Lykens served with the U.S. Marine Corp for three years. He had been employed as a foreman with the Daversa Construction Company of Chambersburg, retiring on disability in August 2000. Funeral service for Mr. Lykens will be Saturday, July 12, 2003 at 2 p.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Rev. Norman E. Huff officiating. Interment will be in Burket Cemetery, Warriors Mark Township. Friends may call the funeral home on Friday from 7-9 p.m. Contributions in his memory may be made to the family.
