Mrs. Katharine Petersen died on February 13, 1891, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Johnson, aged 83 years, 10 months and 10 days. She was born in Christiansland, Sweden, and came to this country about twenty years ago. She became a member of the Swedish Lutheran church at the age of 14 years. She was a Christian and loved her Bible. For years she was almost shut out from the world on account of her deafness, and not having any knowledge of the English language. Her funeral occurred on Sunday afternoon, when a large concourse of people assembled in the Lutheran church to pay the last tribute of respect to the aged lady. Rev. M. M. Foose preached an able and instructive funeral sermon from Psalm XC: 10.
