Pote, aged 78 years and 2 months. Mr. Pote was a son of Jacob and Susan Pote. His entire life was spent in this vicinity. In 1853 he was joined in marriage to Mary Croft. This union was blessed with ten children, six of them now living; Calvin of Manassas, Virginia; David, Andrew, Mrs. David Miller, Mrs. David King and Mrs. Emma Echard of this place. Mr. Pote's wife died in 1900. Since that time he lived in a tenant house on his farm, Mrs. Emma Echard, his daughter, keeping house for him. He was a faithful member of the Brethren church for over 50 years, being a deacon in the church for 40 years. He followed his occupation as a carpenter and farmer until a few years ago when he retired. He was a good father and a kind and obliging neighbor, always ready to aid those who needed help. We feel sorry to lose him from our midst but we are sure that our loss is his gain. We extended our sympathy to the bereaved ones. In conclusion will say: "Sleep, father sleep, and take thy rest. God called thee home, he thought it best." Funeral services were conducted in the Holsinger church Thursday forenoon by Rev. John Miller of Woodbury, assisted by Rev. J. L. Holsinger of Bakers Summit, and Rev. F. Dively of Roaring Spring. Interment in Holsinger cemetery. The family wish to extend through the columns of the Herald their thanks to neighbors and friends for their assistance during the illness and death of their father.
