Sherman ROSE, 74, of Bedford RD 3, died Thursday, September 30, 1971, at his home, of an apparent heart attack. Born July 24, 1897, in Cumberland Valley Township, he was the son of Harry and Lucy (HOOK) ROSE. He was married to the former Nellie DEREMER, who preceded him in death. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Leroy (Mildred) STIFFLER of Youngstown, Ohio, Mrs. James (Marion) RUK of Allison Park, Pa., Mrs. Louis (Bernice) EVANS of Bedford RD 4, Robert F. and Donald E. ROSE of Baltimore, Md., and A. Homer ROSE of Bedford RD 3. Nineteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and these brothers and sisters: Arthur, Oscar, R. Milton, William, Mrs. Veda IMES and Mrs. Dolly OLIVER, all of Bedford RD 3, V. Grant ROSE of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Grace HITE of Greensburg, and Mrs. Leona CESSNA of Warren, Ohio also survive. Mr. ROSE was a member of the Bortz Lutheran Church. He was a retired farmer, and had served as manager of the ROSE Farm since his father's death in 1917. Funeral services: Sunday, October 3, at 2 p.m., from the S. Alton Barefoot Funeral Home, Bedford, with the Rev. Charles Stetler officiating. Burial in the Union Cemetery, Centerville. Friends may call at the funeral home 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
