ROSE [dated 1974, paper unknown] A Familiar figure in the life of Kirkland, WA for many years, 93 year old Major Luther I. ROSE passed away Feb. 23. He was preceded in death by his wife Nadja (BAHRT) three weeks ago. They would have observed their 69th wedding anniversary Feb. 26. Born in BEDFORD, Pa. he served in the Army Signal Corps and was stationed in Alaska at the time of his marriage which was held in the old Russian Church, St. Michael's, in Sitka. He retired in 1925. For more than 50 years the family had lived on the corner of 7th and Lake St. until the couple moved to an apartment several years ago. He was a charter member ot the Order of Eastern Star, a member of the American Legion, Retired Officers Association and the Trinity Lutheran Church. Surviving are his children Irvin H. ROSE, Santa Rosa, Calif.; Edna ROGGE, Iowa City, Iowa,; Helen R. MORRISON, Tuscon, Ariz.; Hazel WEYERMAN, Seattle and Richard L. ROSE, Redmond; also 13 grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren. Services were held Feb. 26 at Green's Colonial Chapel followed by burial at Kirkland Cemetery. The family suggests memorial may be sent to Kirkland Medic II at the Fire Department.
