ROSE [paper unknown] Luther M. ROSE, 75, of 104 Blanch Street, Bedford, died Thursday afternoon, May 10, 1979, in Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bedford Valley, April 5, 1904, a son of the late Espy A. and Maud (GILLUM) ROSE. Surviving is his wife, Catherine (WERTZ) ROSE and these children: Mrs. Betty KUNZ, of Winston Salem, North Carolina; Mrs. Clara MATTHEWS, of Largo, Florida; and Mrs. Shirley STUFFT of Columbia, South Carolina; and a grandson, Roger MUSSELMAN, of Shellsburg, who was raised by the family. Seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive along with these brothers and a sister, Percy, of Martinsburg, West Virginia; Norman, of Schellsburg; Russell R. of Bedford, R.D. 6; Ralph of Bedford; Hosea, of Moorehead, Minnesota; and Fannie SHAFFER, of New Paris. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Eva MUSSELMAN and one brother. Mr. ROSE was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Bedford. He was a familiar figure around Bedford High School, where he served as a janitor for 30 years until his retirement in 1970. Funeral Mass: Monday, May 14, at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Raymond Crosser officiating. Burial in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery. Friends will be received in the Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford, this evening from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday evening in the funeral home.
