ROSE [clipping from a Cumberland, MD, paper] Oscar F. ROSE, 93, of Bedford RD 3, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 1996, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md. He was born Sept. 21, 1903, in Cumberland Valley, son of the late Harry and Lucy Jane (HOOK) ROSE. He was married to Vera F. (MORGARET) ROSE and she preceded him in death March 23, 1973. He is survived by a brother, R. Milton ROSE who is married to the former Mabel (FRANTZ) of Bedford, one sister, Dolly OLIVER, of RD 6 Bedford, and a granddaughter-in-law, Darlene BEEGLE of Irwin. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth BEEGLE OTT, one grandson, Jack BEEGLE, and four brothers, Sherman, Arthur, Vernon and William ROSE; three sisters, Grace HITE, Vera IMES and Leona HOY. Mr. ROSE was a member of the Bortz Lutheran Church, Loyal Order of Moose 489 of Bedford; Dedford Lodge 320 F&AM, Tall Cedars of Lebanon 138, Ali Ghan Shrine Temple and Scottish Rite both of Cumberland. He was an honorary member of the Centerville Volunteer Fire Department and treasure for the Bedford Valley Senior Citizens. He worked on the battleship New Jersey, several destroyers and an aircraft carrier during World War II. he worked for 27 years for the Bureau of Mines and received a government Commendable Service Award when he retired in 1966. Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral home in Bedford and one-half hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Masonic services will be held at the funeral home Friday at 8 p.m. and a Cumberland Valley Fire Company memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Bortz Lutheran Church with the Rev. David L. Wright officiating. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Centerville. Those wishing may make contributions to the Bortz Lutheran Church, 20 Public Square, Bedford, or the Ali Ghan Shrine Temple, P.O. Box 1416, Cumberland, Md., in his memory. Bedford Gazette Oscar F.
