Retired Chief of Police of Summerhill Had Been Ill for Two Years. Summerhill - Oct 8, Samuel Rose, aged 76, a retired police officer here, died yesterday at his home following an illness of two years of a complication of diseases. He had been bedfast, however, for only a week. Mr. Rose served as chief of police her for a period of 14 years, retiring two years ago because of failing health. He operated a farm for many years prior to moving to Summerhill. The deceased was a son of Joseph and Elizabeth Rose and was born July 31, 1861, in Bedford County. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Almarinda (PAUL) Rose and these children: John Rose of Summerhill, Webb Rose, Elsie, wife of Gerald WALLS, and Mrs. Gertrude HUFFMAN, all of South Fork; Eva, wife of Harry MEYERS, and Carrie, wife of Lecester CHAPPLE, both of Ehrenfeld; Edna, wife of George Albert of Canton, O., and Dottie, wife of Zack GRAY, of Akron, O. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Rose home by the Rev. McGiffin, pastor of the Summerhill Lutheran Church, and the Rev Zuch, pastor of the Pentecostal Church of South Fork. Interment will be in the South Fork Cemetery, under the direction of C. O.
