ROSE [written-in date of 1932, paper unknown] William H. ROSE of Bedford Valley died July 15 at the Memorial Hospital in Cumberland, where he had been a patient since June 22. He had undergone the second amputation on his leg last Thursday, from which he rallied but passed away last Friday evening, July 15, at 7 o'clock, having suffered great pain for the past three months. His wife and three children preceded him in death and for the past 20 years he had made his home with his grandson, Sherman R. NAVE. Three sons and one daughter survive: D. C. ROSE and Mrs. Ella ZEMBOWER of Bedford Valley, Henry C. of South Bend, Ind., and Roy L. of Baltimore, Md.; 19 Grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; also two sisters, Mrs. Amanda BRUNER and Mrs. Henry WHIP of Bedford Valley. He was a very active man, doing a great deal of work in his garden and enjoyed greeting friends and welcoming guests to his home. He was Justice of the Peace for 40 years, was a member of the I.O.O.F. and the Lutheran church. Funeral services were held in the Bortz Lutheran Church Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Ross, assisted by Rev. Baughman, the I.O.O.F. also held their services. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery. 2nd Obituary for William Henry ROSE, paper unknown William Henry ROSE, born Dec. 5, 1842, died July 15, 1932, aged 89 years, 7 months and 10 days. He was married at the age of 21 to Elizabeth DEREMER. To this union was born 10 children, of whom 3 sons and 1 daughter survive: D. C. ROSE, H. C. ROSE, F. R. ROSE and Mrs. Ella ZEMBOWER, also 20 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. He was a Democratic committeeman for 25 years, Justice of the Peace for 35 years, member of the I.O.O.F. for 60 years, charter member of the P.O.S. of A. and a lifetime, faithful member of the Bortz Lutheran Church. Funeral services were held at the Church on July 18th, with Rev. M. J. Ross officiating, assisted by Rev. Baughman. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.
