RUTH A. SHAFFER

  Mrs. Ruth Anna (Swindell) Shaffer, 80, died at noon, Monday, Oct. 1, at the 
home of her son, Walter T. Shaffer, in Friedens.  She was born in Bedford 
County, Oct. 15, 1864, a daughter of Isaac and Mary (Darrow) Swindell.  She was 
the widow of Charles Shaffer who was killed in a mine accident near Garrett in 
1926.
  Surviving are seven children - John H. and Percy E., Pine Hill; Dewey L., 
Cleveland, O.; Walter, Friedens; Harry W., Fairchance; Homer A., Kantner, and 
Mrs. Nellie Middleditch, Baltimore.  She also leaves one brother, Joseph 
Swindell, Meyersdale, 22 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
  Funeral services were held at 2:30 Thursday afternoon at the Price Funeral 
Home.  Burial in Union Cemetery.
