He grew to manhood there and was educated in the Rainsburg male and female seminary. He was united in marriage with Eleanor Hassenpat in Philadelphia in 1907 and resided in Media for many years where he was supervisor of the P.B.&W. branch of the Pennsylvania railroad. In 1913, he came to Bedford where he was supervisor of the Bedford branch of the Pennsylvania railroad until 1921, when he retired. He was active in civic affairs in Bedford, serving as a member of the borough council and as a member of the water commission when the new reservoir was constructed in 1922, the reservoir being named the J.
