Weimer, died at his home in Johnstown on Friday. The deceased was a son of the late Jacob Weimer and was born in Indiana county on April 28, 1844. In his younger days, Mr. Weimer was employed on the old Pennsylvania canal, later accepting a position offered him by the Pennsylvania Railroad company. At the breaking out of the civil war, he enlisted in Company D, Forty- seventh regiment, Pennsylvania volunteers, and at the expiration of his nine- months' enlistment, he re-enlisted for three years. During his term of service, he participated in the following engagements: Pocolaligo, S. C., October 22, 1862; Pleasant Hill, La., April 9, 1864; Cane River Crossing, La., April 23, 1864; Manzura Plains, La., May 17, 1864; Winchester, Va., September 1, 1864; Fisher's Hill, Va., September 22, 1864; Cedar Creek, Va., October 19, 1864. On September 1, 1870, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Wonderly, of Riddlesburg. For the past thirteen years Mr. and Mrs. Weimer lived at Johnstown. Previous to locating there, Mr. Weimer was employed by the Kemble Iron company, Riddlesburg. He is survived by his wife and eight children. Bedford Gazette 3/23/1900
