Wright On the morning of March 22, 1920 death claimed one of the most aged and respected citizens of New Paris in the person of Edwin Vickory Wright, who had been permitted to live to the age of 85 years, 8 months, and 7 days. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wright. In 1865 he married Miss Hannah Shaffer [in the 1860 census in Napier Twp., Bedford County, he was married to Hannah and had daughters, Adeline, 3, and Lucretia, 2 months] and to them were given two daughters, Mrs. Adeline Grazier and Mrs. Harry M. Ridenour, of Johnstown, and one son, Humphrey T. Wright, of Altoona. After the death of his wife which occurred on March 21, 1901, he married Mrs. Catherine [Beckley] Seese who still survives. Prior to locating in New Paris, Mr. Wright was a resident of Napier Township during which time he was elected to office the of Justice of the Peace and filled a similar position after becoming a citizen of New Paris and was usually addressed as "Squire Wright." He was appointed Postmaster at New Paris and held that position for a period of sixteen years. As a soldier he spent nine months in the Civil War and was a participant in the battle at Hatcher's Run, capture of Weldon R. R. and minor engagements which preceded the siege of Richmond. He was an active member in the M. E. Church of which he was a member for over sixty years. Besides his wife and three children, he is survived by two brothers, Darwin, of Alum Bank and Rufus P., of Wilmerding. The funeral services which were held on the morning of the 24th were conducted in the M. E. Church of New Paris by the Rev. John Winwood , assisted by Rev. A. F. Richards.
