Zimmers was born December, 3, 1849, and died June 23, 1920 aged 70 years, 6 months and 20 days. He was taken suddenly ill on Nov. 1st., 1919, from which illness he never fully recovered. Surviving him are three children, Miss Ella, at home, who so faithfully took care of her father through his illness, Calvin of Lima, Ohio and Minnie, wife of David L. Defibaugh of Imler. His wife, who was Miss Susana Imler died 25 years ago and one daughter Mrs. William F. Claycomb passed away two years ago. Mr. Zimmers was a lifelong member of Messiah Lutheran church in Bedford Township having filled many offices in both church and Sunday school, of which he was one of the most regular attendants. He was also a lifelong member of the church choir and will be missed not only in the home but in the church and community. Funeral services were conducted at Messiah on Saturday morning by his pastor. Mr. Zimmers himself having chosen the 1st. verse of the 23rd psalm for the text. Bedford Grange of which the deceased was a member, attended the funeral in a body, conducting the services at the grave. As a mark of respect, the Sunday School contributed a beautiful floral offering. Pall bearers were members of the Grange; Messrs James Anderson, Shannon Troutman, Joe Donahoe, Humphry Dively, Calvin Helsel and John Anderson. Bedford Gazette on 7/2/1920
