All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/bedford/ _________________________________________ Last Will and Testament of Peter Stiffler In the name of God amen, I Peter Stiffler of Bedford County, the State of Pennsylvania, Yeoman, being of sound mind, memory and understanding but considering the uncertainty of this life think fit to make this day my last Will and Testament in the following manner, Viz., I commend my soul into the hand of God and my body to the earth to be buried in a Christian manner And as touching such world by estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give, devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. First, I give and bequeath to Catharina, my dearly beloved wife, two beds and furniture with House Clock and all Household furniture and one cow, and one mare and also twelve bushels of wheat per year and one hog totaling one hundred lb. to fatten, two pair of shoes per year, four dollars per year in money, my said wife is to stay on the premises as long as she remains unmarried. So long as my said wife Catharina remains unmarried, she shall enjoy and possess as before mentioned, when she alters her situation it shall fall to the children to be equally shared amongs them. Further a half acre of flaxe sowed grates every year. Also, I give to my well beloved sons Michael Stiffler and Powell [Paul?] Stiffler two hundred and fifty acres and fifty-six perches, lying and being on the waters of Dennings Creek as the patent will testifie dated the third day of October 1788 to equally shared to the said Michael and Powell Stiffler. Also the same Michael and Powell Stiffler is to furnish their Mother as before mentioned, the aforesaid Michael and Powell Stiffler to pay four hundred pounds out to the rest of the children, being Michael Stiffler and Powell Stiffler each two hundred pounds. Amount to four hundred pounds to equally shared is as following Henry, George, Jacob, David, Frederick Stiffler and daughters Chaterina, Mary, Elizabeth Stiffler and what the aforesaid children has received must reducted out their portion. Peter Stiffler to be paid five pounds, the daughter of Peter named Rebekah Stiffler five pounds to be paid, John Stiffler's son to be paid five pounds whome I likewise constitute, make and ordain Michael Stiffler the sole Executrer of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby utterly disaallow, revokes, disavowel all and every other former Testaments, Wills, Legacies, bequest and Executors by me in any other ways before named, willed and bequeathed, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. I reserve three sheep for my wife. In Witness whereof, I have here unto set my hand and seal the first day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eight.
