         Perhaps caused by Indian massacres?  There was a Jacob GERHART
         family of Albany Twp., Berks, who lost eight members due to
         Indian raids during this decade.  See excerpts from the paper,
         "Pennyslvania Gazette" now on-line for more on French-Indian
         War; problems in Berks and neighboring counties leading to
        formation of troops to assist settlers.
