(Lancaster, Pa.) 1864-1928 February 4, 1880 Reading, Pa., Feb. 4. At a late hour last night Peter Nagle, an elderly man, made a desperate attempt to murder Mrs. Shocksell, a widow with whom he was boarding. He was in love with Mrs. Shocksell, and learning that another man had visited her last evening, he struck her on the head twice with a hatchet. He then cut his own throat with a butcher knife. He died at 9:30 this morning. There are hopes of Mrs. Shocksell's recovery.
