Funeral of an aged Man

The funeral of Mr. Jacob Hartenstine, a well-known resident of Warwick 

Township, who died of old age on Sunday evening last, took place on Thursday, 

the 20th inst.  The services were conducted by the Rev. N.A. Barr, pastor of 

the Evangelical Church, of Warwick.  He preached a very impressive sermon from 

the text. “Surely, the bitterness of death is past,” which is found in 1 

Samuel, 15th chap., part of the 32d verse.  The funeral was well attended, the 

house being crowded with sympathetic friends and relatives.  Deceased was 86 

years, 5 months and 26 days old and leaves to mourn his loss 4 children- one 

son and three daughters; 13 grand children and 11 great-grandchildren, also 

one brother 82 years and a sister about 70 years of age.
