Conrad Bohm's Will (from translation) 1788 In the Name of the Holy Trinity Amen, The scripture says to speak your House for you must Die and will not remain alive, therefore I give over to the loved God my Soul and my Body to the Earth, and Witness herewith by Virtue of my Name Subscribed and Seal affixed thereto that after my departure out of this World, in this my Testament and last Will all shall be Rightly and duly kept as follows My Wife Eva Elisabeth shall have a Cow, if there is two, she has the choice She shall have two sheep, the Choice of my sheep She shall have a Swine which she pleases She shall have all the Meat, Tallow, and Butter as it is in the House She shall have all the Grain, the Meal, what is in the House and the Grain yet in the field or in the Barn, the Straw she shall have half, but should the grain be to reap, then she shall reap her half herself and gather it. She shall have the half of all feed for the Cattle what is here spun, she shall have all She shall have the Iron Stove She shall have the Choice among my Pots to take which she pleases She shall have the little Tup together with the Water Bucket all her things or House furniture which she brought to me she shall be Impowered to keep I had a Bed and she had a Bed and those two Beds which we brought together shall also be distributed, to wit, of those two Beds she shall have the Choice which she pleases, the one which she must leave here, shall be with a good cover and Pillowcase and two Sheets If there Whisky, she shall have the third part thereof, as also of all other drink what is here of Cloath, Woolen, linnen, or Liney not yet sowed up or made into cloas, she shall have all she shall hold it so as all her cloa__ She shall have two pewter plates which she pleases in Cash my Wife shall have three pound, say 3 Pound As touching my funeral expenses, my Heirs alone shall satisfy (my wife excepted) though Bread, flesh and other Victuals and Drink in the House As to my remaining Effects which I leave the same shall be duly distributed as follows, to wit, in due time after my death, the Executor in my Testament appointed shall hold a Public Venue and sell what remains after my wife has duly received all, it shall be distributed among my Childrenıs Children, one like the other, to wit George Hartleinıs Children, 2nd David Siesholıs Children, 3rd Lorentz Hartleinıs Children, 4th Baltzer Bohmıs Children, those said Childrenıs Parents shall inherit nothing thereof nor get it Land, but the Executor shall keep all in his Land, but when the Children has their age, then each oneıs share shall be given it My Son Jacob and his Children has nothing to inherit, since he has fully received his inheritance, at the Land I do appoint Adam Huder as Executor, of the aforesaid Heirs, Impower herewith the Executor by virtue of my Subscribed name and thereto affixed Seal, and subscribing Witnesses that He shall duly execute all what I have written in this my Testament, and by me is ordered, to the Conclusion I Witness and acknowledge herewith that this be my last, yes very last Testament, and very last Will, sealed and Ratified, Witnesseth, and Signed, the 6th December 1788 Conrad (H=his mark) Bohm Witnesses...
